交聯聚乙烯絕緣電纜采用過氧化物交聯的方法，使聚乙烯分子由線型分子結構變為三維網狀結構，由熱塑性材料變成熱固性材料，工作溫度從70℃提高到90℃，顯著提高電纜的載流能力。交聯聚乙烯絕緣電纜具有以下優點：

耐熱性能 Heat resistance：
網狀立體結構的XLPE具有十分優異的耐熱性能。在300℃以下不會分解及碳化，長期工作溫度可達90℃，熱壽命可達40年。

絕緣性能 Insulation performance：
XLPE保持了PE原有的良好絕緣特性，且絕緣電阻進一步增大。其介質損耗角正切值很小，且受溫度影響不大。

機械特性 Mechanical properties：
