HZ info：On February 22, 2025, the commencement ceremony of the gasification purification section of Fujian Haichen Chemical Co., Ltd.'s annual production of 400000 tons of adiponitrile and raw material supporting project was held at the Gulei Petrochemical Base in the Gulei Port Economic Development Zone of Zhangzhou, marking the official entry of this key project in Fujian Province with a total investment of 14.8 billion yuan into the comprehensive construction stage. The main construction contents of the project include a 400000 ton/year adiponitrile plant, a 400000 ton/year synthetic ammonia plant, a 500000 ton/year acetic acid plant, a 60000 ton/year PSA hydrogen production plant, and supporting public works. It is expected to be completed and put into operation in October 2026.
This project adopts the "butadiene direct cyanide method" independently developed by China National Chemical Tianchen Company to synthesize adiponitrile, and produces synthesis gas through coal gasification process. The original plan was to use coal water slurry gasification technology, but it was later changed to Aerospace Maiwei semi waste coal gasification technology. This can reduce coal consumption by 15%, oxygen consumption by 20%, and reduce coal slag and wastewater discharge. After the change, synthetic gas will be used to produce high value-added products such as liquid ammonia, high-purity hydrogen, methanol, and acetic acid.
The project uses coal as raw material to construct a complete chain of "ethylene cracking butadiene adiponitrile hexamethylenediamine nylon 66", promoting efficient resource allocation of Fujian Energy and Chemical Group. By integrating environmental protection facilities such as sewage treatment and waste gas incineration in the western area, the project will also serve downstream nylon 66 production and strengthen regional industrial collaboration.
As the core raw material of nylon 66, adiponitrile has long been monopolized by overseas giants. Data from 2024 shows that China's dependence on adiponitrile imports remains as high as 78%, with a fluctuation of 3000 yuan per ton in import price differences. After the Fujian Haichen project is put into operation, it will significantly reduce external dependence. Tianchen Company consolidates its leading position in technology and injects momentum into the localization of high-end chemical materials in China.
In addition, after the completion of the project, the Gulei Petrochemical Base in Zhangzhou will become an important global production base for adiponitrile, expected to drive the annual output value of downstream industries such as nylon and engineering plastics to exceed 30 billion yuan. The competitiveness of the petrochemical industry chain in Fujian Province is expected to leap to the forefront of the country.
