White crystalline powder, soluble in organic solvents such as benzene, acetone, and chloroform; slightly soluble in ethanol; insoluble in water, excellent resistance to hot water extraction: low volatility; no migration or blooming when added to products. Antioxidant 1010 is basically non-toxic. The median lethal dose (LD50 for white rats ≥ 15000mg/kg) has been approved for use in packaging materials that come into contact with food in many developed countries in the world, such as the United States.

The commercially available 1010 is usually a mixture of α type and β type, and the mixing ratio has no effect on the antioxidant properties of the product. According to the latest research results, 1010 also has γ type, λ type and unstable crystal forms.
